Purple Road Workshop

The Purple Road is an campaign that grew out of an old piece of fabric, some forgotten balls of wool and a desire to raise awareness of Elder Abuse.  Elder Abuse can include physical, psychological and social abuse of older people.  The most common forms of Elder Abuse are financial abuse and neglect.

Purple is the colour of age and wisdom and every flower represents a story , conversation or reflection on the important subject of Elder Abuse.

During May Connect Village Hub will join with Harold Hawthorne Community Centre, Victoria Park Country Women’s Association, Swan Care and the Town of Vic Park to contribute a section of Purple Road.  You can drop off your completed flowers at any of the centers or join in a workshop

The Village Hub is joining with the Victoria Park Country Women's Association to present this workshop.  At this workshop you will learn how to knit or crochet simple flowers to add to the Victoria Park section of the now over 20 meter long "Road".

The Purple Road is a visual representation of the empowerment of older people in the community and their right to age positively.
